Relief Society President....

Last Sunday I was called and set apart as the Relief Society President for the Harber ward here in Springdale Ar.  It has been a humbling experience for me. Im excited.... anxious.... scared and thrilled all at the same time. Our presidency... kind of rocks :) I love the sisters that were called. Devon Steinhour for 1st counselor and Rachelle Sherwood as 2nd counselor and Amanda Quinn as secretary.  The process of picking counselors was interesting and at a personal level I understood how Heavenly Father sure does have a say in who is called for callings. All 4 of us have young kids and new to the ward.  Our first presidency meeting was rather funny. All four of us talking, praying, over 10 kids with stinky diapers... crying... but some how the spirit was in the room and we got much accomplished. I think we are used to the baby chaos and it was just funny to see all 4 of us focused on our calling while the little ones played.

This morning we had our first Visiting Teaching Interviews. I have to say I was rather thrilled on how many people showed up. I do fill the support and love from the members and I am so excited to fill in the gaps in our ward.

I called a dear friend of mine last week. Jackie Sands. She was the YW president. She rocked. I was her secretary. I wasn't so good. But... during those times when I was contemplating "how the heck did they call me to be secretary!" I didn't realize that I was absorbing and learning under Jackie. She taught me so much and I learned so much with out really realizing it. I read this quote the other day and it reminded me of my time in Binghamton, NY....

"Every Experience God gives us, Every person he puts into our lives, Is the Perfect Preparation for a future only He can see."
 -Corrie ten Boom

Loved this.

Well....
Here's to praying alot.. Future Friends...
and my season to
 STRETCH.
wish me good luck.

ps.
I do have to say... I am official "OLD!"

You're going to be wonderful Heather!!! Those ladies are so blessed to have you as their RS president, you're so fun. Remember, as long as you keep yourself worthy to receive inspiration and have the courage and desire to do what the Lord wants you to do, everything will turn out exactly right! :)

Why I Blog

"I promise that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations. Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us and as our posterity reads of our life's experiences, they, too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted."
